Ruth Cleland | Idyll
Recent work from the series "Island" by RUTH CLELAND is included in the exhibition "Idyll" at the Franklin Arts Centre. Curated by Matt Blomeley the exhibition is a visual critique and exploration of the lost paradise that was New Zealand and features works from 10 leading contemporary artists - Mark Adams, Ruth Cleland, Garry Currin, Warwick Freeman, Adrian Jackman, Allan McDonald, Roger Mortimer, Johanna Pegler, Joe Sheehan and Clinton Watkins.
Spanning a range of contemporary visual art disciplines including, painting, video, photography, and sculptural objects, 'Idyll' charts a once pure landscape that has been savoured, mined, farmed, lamented.
