LIYEN CHONG | Asia New Zealand Foundation Residency, Indonesia
LIYEN CHONG has been awarded a three month Asia New Zealand Foundation Residency at Cemeti Art House in Indonesia from March to May 2015.
The residency will take place at Cemeti Art House in Yogyakarta, Indonesia which has been exhibiting and communicating the works of Indonesian and international contemporary artists since 1988. The Cemeti Art House residency programme involves three artists from three different countries during a period of three months, ending with an exhibition and presentation by the artists.
The programme focuses on the importance of art practice with an emphasis on art processes and social, innovative experiences. Artists are given the opportunity to concentrate on work, experiment and interact with other artists, professionals and the community.
Different models are explored in order to work on critical discourse and diverse forms of visual art. Cemeti Art House also facilitates projects to connect artists with other professionals and works relative to specific communities (in Yogyakarta and its surroundings).
