New site specific work by RUTH THOMAS EDMOND will be featured in the exhibition Solo 2014: Five Wellington Artists from 18 October 2014 - 1 March 2015 at The Dowse Art Museum in Wellington.
"Solo" is a biennial exhibition that aims to support Wellington based artists by actively commissioning an dprsenting new work. The series aims to present contemporary art work across a range of media and provides a snapshot of contemporary art practice in Wellington right here, right now.
"Solo 2014" features the work of five Wellington artists and includes a nine metre oil painting based on hydrangeas at the Wellington botanical gardens by Karl Maughan, a giant translucent pyramid with a new drawing tool by Peter Trevelyan, a large scale collage based drawing directly onto the gallery walls by RUTH THOMAS-EDMOND, a deeply personal performance work based on a 1930s song from the Japanese occupation era of Korea by Samin Son and contemporary jewellery experimentation with unlikely materials by Moniek Schrijer.
