Kirstin Carlin | Through The Trees | Dunedin Public Art Gallery

19.09.16

"Through the Trees" sets gallery artist KIRSTIN CARLIN onto a collision course with one of Dunedin's favourite daughters, Frances Hodgkins. Interested in the familiar tropes of art history and image production, Carlin's paintings both celebrate and unravel some of the painterly strategies deployed by Hodgkins. This new exhibition brings Carlin's new paintings together with a selection of works by Hodgkins from the collection of Dunedin Public Art Gallery.

A catalogue publication accompanies this exhibition with new writing by curator Lucy Hammonds.  The exhibition runs from 30th September 2016 - 22 January 2017.

Works from this series will be exhibited at Melanie Roger Gallery in late April 2017.  To register interest or to enquire: info@melanierogergallery.com
