Artists in Isolation: Gavin Hurley
GAVIN HURLEY shares his bubble with his partner Cameron above Flotsam and Jetsam on Ponsonby Rd. They are also keeping a close eye on a few free ranging neighborhood cats. He is using his lockdown period to make new work in his studio that was intended for the Auckland Art Fair, but (as that has been cancelled) which will be available post lockdown at the gallery. Gavin’s recent exhibition at the gallery “Studio Visit” looked at his past work, and he has continued to mine his own archive in this time with some further interesting and previously unseen works unearthed. As well, both Gavin and Cameron have been using their time to rearrange the shop downstairs.
