Matt Ellwood | Erasing Hedi | One Night Only
DEMO (3 Water St, Grafton)
17 September
5-7pm (drawing event 5.30-6.30pm)
In this latest body of work, and as part of his PhD entitled “Expanded Drawing and the Gallery as Site: From the Drawing Lesson to the Pensive Image/Object”, Matt Ellwood presents another opportunity to participate in a one-night-only drawing event.
Last time, Ellwood invited viewers to enact blind contour drawings of other audience members directly over the top of his highly rendered charcoal drawings of Celine fashion adverts copied from Frieze art magazine.
This time, he has drawn four portraits of the fashion designer himself, Hedi Slimane, taken from licensable stock images online. Matt now invites you, as the audience, to contribute to these artworks by standing on an ‘Erasure Apparatus Prototype’, wielding a much-larger-than-normal eraser, and rubbing out his charcoal pencil drawing as and how you like within a 30 second timeframe per person.
Or just come along and watch someone else willing to do it.
