Roberta Thornley | New Balloon series

Roberta Thornley has released a new body of work revisiting her earlier balloon works. A small selection was recently presented by Melanie Roger Gallery at th Aotearoa Art Fair.  

We know balloons as objects of ritual, celebration and ceremony and in this new body of work Roberta returns to them as subject, expanding her ongoing series ‘My Head on your Heart’. In these photographs she explores states of change from transition to transformation.

In the making of these works, Roberta was influenced by the psychological concept of ‘Transitional Objects’ and Goethe’s enduring work on colour and the aesthetic experience; and was inspired by her lifelong interest in Physicality – the impulse for all her work.

There are ten works in the series with three different sizes.  We print and frame to order within the edition.
