Kirstin Carlin

Through The Trees

29th Mar –
22nd Apr 2017

Commissioned by and exhibited at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery in late 2016, "Through the Trees" sets contemporary artist KIRSTIN CARLIN onto a collision course with one of Dunedin's favourite daughters, Frances Hodgkins. Interested in the familiar tropes of art history and image production, Carlin's paintings both celebrate and unravel some of the painterly strategies deployed by Hodgkins.

A full colour catalogue publication published by the Dunedin Public Art Gallery with new writing by curator Lucy Hammonds accompanies this exhibition.

Please note that the gallery will be closed over Easter 14 - 18th April inclusive.  We apologise for any inconvenience.
